How to Clean USGI 30 Round Magazines

1) Release the base catch (use a cartridge to help -  push in the hole then use as a lever to get the end of the plate over the edge of the magazine tube).

2) Remove the base (slide it to the rear). 

3) Remove the spring and follower by jiggling spring and follower (Note: DO NOT remove the follower from the spring).

 4) Wipe the dirt from the tube, spring and follower.

5)  Check that the inside is free of dirt - wipe down the inside (DO NOT use CLP or other lubricants in the magazine tube)

6) Lubricate the spring lightly (with CLP). 

7) Assemble the magazine.

a. Jiggle the spring and follower together to install them in the magazine.

b. Slide the base under all four tabs, making sure that the print is on the outside.  

 8) Clean the ammunition using a clean, dry cloth to wipe dirt and foreign matter from the ammunition. Do not coat with oil.
